Where will I work ? view answer
In order to gain a place on the Apprenticeship programme, you must be sponsored by a Volvo dealership local to your home. Here, you will be a full time employee of the dealer from day one and become part of the service team while you train.

Will I be a paid employee at the dealership ? view answer
Yes. All apprentices who are successful in gaining a position at a Volvo dealership will be contracted and paid as a full time employee with that dealer.

Where do I complete my training ? view answer
You will carry out your training through six two-week periods at the industry’s premier technical college, Stephenson College based in Coalville, Leicestershire. The centre is equipped with the latest Volvo vehicles and you will have use of the most up to date equipment and tools.

What qualifications do I achieve ? view answer
On completion you will have attained the following qualifications: BTEC National Certificate - Motor Vehicle Engineering and NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

Does my training stop once I reach NVQ level 3 ? view answer
No, it doesn’t. At Volvo you will be encouraged to increase your knowledge with future technical training courses, exciting team building weekends and even the option for the right apprentice to study for the Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Motor Vehicle studies followed by a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Motor Vehicle Management and Technology. How much will the training cost me ? view answer
The training is completely free of charge and paid for by Volvo. The only cost to you is your dedication and commitment to succeed.

Where will I stay ? view answer
During your block release, you will stay at one of our hand picked hotels near to the Training Centre. Transport to and from the Training Centre will also be provided if required. The cost of the accommodation will be met by your sponsorship dealer.

How do I enrol ? view answer
To enrol, you must meet the following criteria;
  • Be aged 16 or over
  • Have grade c or above in GCSE Math’s, English and a science or the Scottish Certificate of Education at grade C or above
